Dear Graduation Project Judges:
While doing my senior project, I learned how to write a college research paper which will be future help. I also learned that you have to be time oriented to get stuff done because there are certain time limits you need to set for yourself to have everything in order. By doing my project I learned a lot about the statistics of how many pets there are that either don’t have homes, haven’t been spayed, neutered, or vaccinated, which results in killing. My concern for the animals led me into this topic and with all the research I’ve learned that I would to help in programs so these animals get the care they need.
I like being able to do things on my own and in my own way without there being right or wrong answer, so I have an eye for art. I see art everywhere I look whether it’s in food, vehicles, rooms, or outside. I try to put art into just about anything that I do, even my senior project. I have taken art 1 and art 2 as a junior and I’m now taking Crafts 1 and Crafts 2 as a senior and I’ve highly enjoyed them all. I’m going to attend Cape Fear Community College to have more time and get a better look on where I want to direct my degree in. I would like to focus my degree somewhere around the art field for a fact like culinary arts or even a college art teacher. Once I figure out my degree, I plan to get a scholarship into UNCW.
I chose spaying, neutering, and vaccines for animals for many reasons. One of the reasons is being that I’m an animal lover and always have been. I’ve always wanted to help with the ASPCA because I’ve watched their shows growing up and it’s so sad seeing what the animals go through. Half of my pets that my family and I have taken in from them being abandoned, so my concerns go out to all the other animals that have as well. I also have a friend who volunteers at a program for years now to help find animal homes and cure them with vaccinations.
The easiest part of my senior project was getting things all done at once because I’m a very orderly person. Also, doing my products such as my brochure, website, scrapbook, and power point was easy for me, because I could add in my own form of art and be creative. The most difficult thing for me was ordering my junior paper and figuring out a product. Ordering my junior paper was hard because there were so many of the same facts but written in different ways and I had to find a way for it all to blend but have an order instead of just stating a bunch of facts everywhere. Figuring out a product was hard for me because I wanted to do a survey question for pet owners to fill out but my research/topic question involved the word “Government” and that’s not exactly the most appealing subject. I ended up talking to the Clayton Parks and Recreation Director who allowed me to do my product at the East Clayton Dog Park, and he helped me change my product to a brochure which became successful. I believe that will help me in the future by having more of a wide set mind for ideas.
Thank you judges for all your time. I enjoyed presenting my senior project to you and hope you enjoyed my thoughts and concerns on my topic.
Sincerely,
Jessica Hobby
